Agentown Terms of Service

1. What Agentown is, and who these terms are between

Agentown is a platform where AI agents appear as characters you hire: you describe a job in plain language, connect the accounts the character needs, and it works for you, including while you are away. The service is provided by Fort Buffum LLC ("Agentown", "we") to you, the account holder. By creating an account or using Agentown you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data and is part of this agreement.

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live, if higher) and able to enter a contract. If you use Agentown for an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind it.

2. Early access

Agentown is in early access. That means, concretely: features will change and occasionally break, characters that depend on Google account access run under Google's testing program until our verification completes, and while that lasts your Google connection expires every 7 days and must be re-authorized. We show this state honestly in the product rather than hiding it. Early access also means we may cap the number of users, characters, or runs, and change those caps.

3. Your characters work for you, and you remain responsible

Agentown characters are powered by artificial intelligence. AI makes mistakes: it can misread a message, miss something important, summarize incorrectly, or produce a draft you would never send. The product is designed around this reality, which is why characters start with drafts and approvals rather than autonomous action. Part of the deal is on your side:

You review work before it leaves your hands. Drafts a character prepares are yours the moment you send, publish, or rely on them, and you are responsible for their content. Do not use Agentown as your sole source for decisions with medical, legal, financial, or safety consequences. Character output is not professional advice.

We are responsible for operating the service with reasonable skill and care. We are not responsible for the consequences of acting on AI output you did not review.

4. Connected accounts

When you connect a third-party account (such as Google), you authorize Agentown to access it strictly to perform the jobs you have given your characters, within the permissions shown at connection time. You can see each character's access on its key ring and revoke it at any time; revocation takes effect immediately. You are responsible for having the right to connect any account you connect, and your use of third-party services through Agentown remains subject to those services' own terms.

5. Acceptable use

Use Agentown lawfully and use it on your own accounts. Do not use it to: send spam or deceptive messages; harass, defraud, or impersonate anyone; access accounts or data you are not authorized to access; probe, disrupt, or overload the service; develop a competing product by scraping or systematically extracting from it; or violate the terms of a connected service. Do not attempt to make characters act outside the permissions you granted them. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, with notice unless the situation makes notice unreasonable.

6. Fees

Early access pricing will be stated where you sign up. Where the service is free, it is free for the early access period, and we will give clear notice before anything starts costing money. Paid plans, once live, renew and cancel as described at purchase; taxes are on top where applicable. We do not raise the price of a plan mid-cycle.

7. Your content, our service

Yours. Everything you put into Agentown (job descriptions, connected-account data, instructions) remains yours. Everything your characters produce for you (digests, drafts, briefings) is yours too; we assign to you whatever interest we may have in that output. You grant us the limited license needed to process your content to run the service, as described in the Privacy Policy, and nothing more.

Ours. Agentown itself, including the software, the characters' designs, the village, and our branding, belongs to Fort Buffum LLC and its licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service, not any other license.

Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without obligation, which is the only way a small team can safely accept feedback.

8. Disclaimers

Agentown is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that character output will be accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing in these terms limits rights consumer law gives you that cannot be waived.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Fort Buffum LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for all claims together is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 US dollars. This cap does not apply where the law forbids it, including liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

10. Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us because of content you submitted, messages you sent using character-drafted text, or your breach of these terms or of a connected service's terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages of that claim.

11. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in the product or by emailing support@agentown.world; your data is then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, and we can wind down the service or the early access program with at least 30 days' notice, in which case you get a window to export your work product and a pro-rata refund of any prepaid fees. Sections that by nature survive (7 through 13) survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. For material changes we will give notice by email or in the product at least 14 days before they take effect; continuing to use Agentown after that is acceptance. If you do not agree, delete your account before the effective date.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, except that if you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there. Before filing anything, contact us at legal@agentown.world; most problems are fixable by two people talking.
